Ministry Summary:

In ministry since 1988, and based in Kenya, East Africa from 1993-2021, Neil and Jennifer are Career Missionary Educators/Evangelists with Church of God World Missions. In addition to lecturing at the Batchelor level, they have done Crusade evangelism with their team: Eagles’ Wings Gospel Team. From 1996 to 2021, thousands received salvation and whole towns have been shaken through Word and worship during 184 Gospel meetings they have led.

Discipleship College:

Neil’s primary ministry has been to lecture at the Bachelor level: Bible, Theology, and Ministry courses at Discipleship College, a 17-acre campus located in Eldoret, Kenya. The student body is comprised of mostly Kenyans. Ministers from other African countries where the Church of God is located are also studying (Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Tanzania, Burundi, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana). The opportunity to spend quality time helping form his students’ “theological/ministry world-view” is Neil’s greatest joy and definitely the focus of his calling.

Eagles’ Wings Gospel Team:

The Lawrences have been involved in Evangelism and Worship through music with the team they formed in 1996. This ministry partnered with a local congregation to proclaim the Gospel in the open-air. Students and graduates of Discipleship College have been members of the Team. From 1996 to 2021 they ministered in 184 Gospel meetings all over Kenya and parts of Uganda. These meetings were 3 to 7 days long with venues in market places, town centers, road-side centers, slums, and villages.

Eagles’ Wings Studio:

The Studio was created to minister through recorded music and video. The audio studio, formed in 2008, enabled the Team members to produce their own and other Christian artists’ Gospel music. The video studio has been the main location for the production of A Higher Place TV program. A Higher Place is a half-hour teaching/preaching program being broadcast on Kenyan television to millions of viewers each week since November 2015. In 2019 the broadcast range was expanded to include: Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Mauritius. In 2021 Neil signed a contract with BHB to continue broadcasting A Higher Place episodes through 2024 in Kenya.

Apologetics Focus:

Neil has been doing self-study of Christian Apologetics and Islam since 2007. He plans to begin a Doctorate degree in Apologetics in 2022. This will better prepare him to teach and speak at other COG Bible schools, churches, & conventions —wherever the Lord opens a door around the world in their new assignment as: International Missionary Educator/Evangelist.

Ministry Challenge:

One of the biggest challenges they face is Neil losing 95% of his vision to a severe case of bilateral optic neuritis which began on 6 Aug 2011 while preaching a crusade in the western part of Uganda. The damage from the inflammation in his optic nerves left him well below 80% vision loss which is when the label “legally blind” begins. Currently, Neil has only 5% vision. They continue to hope that Jesus has a plan to restore his sight one day, though medically-speaking, it’s impossible. He has not seen color since August 2011 because his vision is so blacked out. They request your prayer for healing for Neil’s eyes. Ironically, Neil has been the Executive Producer on all video ministry content since losing his eyesight.

To Our Ministry Partners:

We consider the COG congregations in the USA as our partners in ministry because they are vital to what we do. Their long-term prayer and support has kept us thriving, and on the field without much worry since 1991. They are our Antioch, and we are their missionaries. We communicate and visit with the understanding that they need us as much as we need them. We personally know many wonderful people who have partnered with us for more than a quarter century. Surely their reward in Heaven is great! For if the church is not focused on the Harvest, it is an emaciated, dying church. Therefore, we are not burdened down when sharing the story; instead, we love to exhort people into Harvest action!
